I'd link everyone else here, but as I hadn't put up blog links for a long time, I have forgotten all of them. LOL. If you insist on being linked, just give me a holler.

As of now, I'm simply nutters for RENT.

the one with the crazy phone calls
i am now spending everyday's 1:00-5:00pm on the phone, calling up stores and companies for contacts. and, while searching for more numbers on the net, i decided to take a break.

*blog mode*

earlier this morning, i watched a film (required for my sociology class) with kyle, joy, and khat at the film center. Ora Pro Nobis. i think it's already #99 in UP's 1000 Ways to Instill Activism in a Student's Subconscious Handbook. i forget how many talks and films and whatevers i've been required to watch, all with the "oust gloria" undertone. lol. but, in fairness, it's a very interesting film. it was about how EDSA I (therefore, Cory's time) wasn't really all that democratic. it showed vigilantes hailed as "model citizens", even though they ruthlessly killed civillians, women, and children suspected of being "rebels" during the marcos regime (at least, that's how i understood it). it also turned out to be a brutal film. worst of all, it's probably true. it was banned from cinemas, afterall. a highly political film that sheds light on the truth behind a good facade is bound to be banned from the public. where's the activism part there? there was a short talk and documentary before the film about president GMA again. i personally didn't see the connection.

like i've said, i'm spending every free afternoon i have trying to call as many companies as i can before office hours end. i'm getting pretty used to it. it's coming very easily to me. sometimes i feel like those voice recordings, saying the same things over and over and over again. and, for some reason, i still smile while i speak even though i know they won't see me.

but, there are some occassional weird phone conversations. i'm thankful for those moments for breaking the monotony of my afternoon. for some reason, yesterday was filled with those awkward/unusual/hilarious moments. (also known as *toink* moments)

me: hello, goodafternoon. i would just like to inquire if (store name) is accepting sponsorship proposals.
clerk: ano po yun?
me: sponsorship proposals po.
clerk: shipwreck?
me: SPON-SOR-ship proposals.
clerk: ah, sandali lang po ha. *to someone in the store* ate, tumatanggap ba daw tayo ng sponsorship proposals? *to me* para saan po ito?
me: may event po ang UP Junior Marketing Association.
clerk: sandali lang po. ano daw, may UP Club Union event yata. basta sa UP Club Union... ah, ma'am, tawag na lang po kayo sa head office. *gives number*
me: okay, thank you very much!

even i don't know how i managed to keep myself from bursting out with laughter. UP Club Union... wahahahaha!

me: hi, goodafternoon! i would just like to inquire if (store name) is accepting sponsorship proposals.
operator: ok, hold on.
*lullaby-ish hold music plays*
different operator: yes, goodafternoon?
me: hi, goodafternoon! i would just like to inquire if (store name) is accepting sponsorship proposals.
operator: hold on, transfer ko lang po kayo.
*lullaby-ish hold music plays*
another op: hello, goodafternoon.
me: *strained sigh* goodafternoon. i would just like to inquire if (store name) is accepting sponsorship proposals.
op: ah, sorry, ma'am. hindi po kami tumatanggap for the meantime.
me: *through gritted teeth* thank you po...

the worst part was the lullaby-ish music. then the "no" after that long wait.

me: hi, goodafternoon. this is a call regarding sponsorship proposals. are you entertaining such for this period? (yes, i have 3 versions of my opening line. para naman hindi boring)
marketing: regarding what is this proposal?
me: UP Junior Marketing Association is holding an event...
marketing: ah alright. what kind of event?
me: it is the major project for the applicants of the semester. we will be hosting a pool party, and all proceeds will go to our beneficiaries.
marketing: okay. what are your beneficiaries?
me: we have two. one is the UP JMA Scholarship Fund wherein we sponsor a UP student every year, and our main beneficiary is KIDS.
marketing: KIDS?
me: yes. it stands for Kids Integrated... *mental block* *clears throat* *thinks: uh oh...* *frantic search through my files for what KIDS means* *in the most dignified palusot voice i can muster...* Kids Inegrated Development Through Schooling. we provide educational scholarship for less priviledged children. we currently have 20 scholars for the year.
marketing: okay. just send your proposal to...

i swear, i KNOW what KIDS means. i just momentarily forgot. unfortunately.

hay nako. what's with yesterday that made the world go mental?

last night, the sophomores went somewhere and our other freshman boardmate went home. sab, mm, and i had the boardging house to ourselves. what started with "uy, wait, i have kwento..." led to a 3-hour-shrieking-guffawing-spine-tingling-mind-boggling-unbelievable-"that's impossible" screaming-chichi session. i think it was the most fun night i've ever had in the boarding house (but every day is fun!). kung pwede lang, ikukwento ko lahat ng nakwento kagabi. i swear, i was shocked to death. lol. pero hindi pwede eh. aww... haha :)

well, anyway, i have to get back to work. i have to have as many contacts as possible to send our still-non-existent sponsorhip proposal letter. pakshet.

physics exam was a big boo. i'm praying i can survive claculus on saturday.

i thought math100 was easier than 17?! hindi kaya!!! hence the higher number. as in sa classroom, i just stare at the problems. my mind is always a total blank. i dunno if it's my eternal drowsiness or natunaw na lahat ng braincells ko last sem. i hate iiiiiiiiiiiit. i thought kaya kong i-chicken yung math100 coz we started out with really simple stuff. and then, KABOOM. hay nako. HAAAAAY NAKOOOOOOO.

gone are the days when 80% is a low grade. i'll be uber glad for a 75%. well, no. but better that than a 60.
